The Kincl Hairdressing Salon at Praška ulica 8 is one of the very rare hairdresser’s with a tradition of working for 75 years.
With its tradition and reputation in the small business world, the Kincl Salon is part of the urban culture and identity of Zagreb. In April 2009, it was placed on the list of intangible cultural properties on which a preventive protection order has been placed by the Ministry of Culture.
The exhibition presents the development of the salon from its founding in 1935 down to the present day; at the same time, it illustrates the development of the hairdressing trade in Zagreb and the fashion changes that accompanied the design and execution of hairstyles in the country.
On exhibition are numerous photographs of hairstyles created by the members of the Kincl family and pictures (taken by a leading fashion lensman) of the styling competitions in which they took part.
At the World Styling Championship in Paris in 1937, Branka Kincl won a first prize; in the same championship in 1958, Vesna Kincl repeated her mother’s success with another first prize, and in 1957 she took the title of European champion.
